Hey everyone. I’m looking to add a winch to my 92 350 trail boss. I have a few questions about mounting and hooking it up.

I want to mount the winch to the front and I’m thinking of cutting some of the front brush guard/ grille and fabricating a bracket to bolt to the small Frame that goes from the brush guard/ grille to the frame of the atv/ radiator. The bracket would then allow me to mount a winch to that. I see they have some online for 100 bucks but I think with some L brackets and some flat metal and a welder I can make something cheaper. If anyone has done this or has pictures of a winch mounted that would be helpful and guide me on what works and what doesn’t.

the last part that I have some questions on would be the wiring. I’m not very familiar with the wiring so I’m looking for some tips here. My understanding is I have two leads one for power and the other for a ground or neutral. I’m thinking I would want to use a wire that is connected to the switch when the switch is on so it doesn’t kill the battery. The other thing im not sure about is do I need any special in line fuses to protect the system? The winch comes with a relay which I imagine is all I need but I’d rather ask than learn the hard way. Any help would be great.

It did come with some wiring. I assume everything I need but wasn’t sure. I did get a mount for it but looking at the atv the choices seems to be mount it up this on the rack or buy that 100 dollar mount to get the winch in the right way as I imagine you can’t just mount the winch any way. For example you want it level with the ground not on its side

Get the mount , way easier installation and it won't look like a Rube Goldberg job !
quick question on the mount. I ordered it and getting ready to install it. My only question is do I bolt the two spacers to the winch mount then mount the winch mount to the radiator supports or do I use one bolt that runs through the winch mount, the two spacers and into the tabs of the radiator supports? If any of that makes sense?

Hopefully this helps. In the diagram it shows bolts going through the winch mount and bolting the two spacers together. But it is not clear if the spacers are bolted to the radiator support or if you use the other holes provided. They only provide six bolts- 3 per side, so its a bit unclear since the bolts are not long enough to bolt both sides together.
