I have 2 sportsman 500's, a 99 and an 05 HO. my 99 is silky smooth with the engine running, and requires little if any warm up before driving. the 05 on the other hand requires @ 3-5 minutes to warm up when first getting going. i just had a tune up with plugs and valves adjusted also the carb was rebuilt including new floats and it still does it, and it always seems to have rough idle and is not nearly as smooth or quiet as the 99. Any thought's? as to what can be done. Also the choke pull on the 05 is stupid, has anyone every switched it from the pull back to the 2 setting lever like the older models?

Thanks.

The HO motors aren't quite as smooth as the older models. Cams are more aggressive. The long warm up is typically a lean setting on the carb. Try turning the mixture screw out a half turn and see if it helps. Should give it more fuel at idle and help warm it up faster.
