Application: 2000 Polaris Magnum 500 Model A00D50AB

Manual says to pull axle out "as far as it will go". Photo attached. Ok-- I'm having to drive the axle out with a piece of wood. I decided to stop once the axle started to move. So I suspect this is just because the rear is OLD and dried grease. Photo 2 also attached. I disconnected the bolts holding the rear black tube to the diff. and think this is unnecessary. Anyone here been there and done this? I'm thinking I need to reconnect the tube to rear end housing and frame. Then proceed with bearing removal. Slide axle back through when new bearings arrive. Thoughts???

Which bearings are you replacing?

If you are planning on removing the gearcase bearings, the gearcase must be removed and disassembled

Otherwise you are only replacing the bearings in the axle tube

Sure appreciate your replies. I'm stopping at the axle bearings in the tube.
