I have a 1996 Polaris Sportsman 500 4X4. The rear wheels locked up and it completely destroyed the drive belt. But what causes the rear wheels to locked up? In neutral, I can move the quad up about 3 feet then it locks up then I can move backwards three feet then it locks up. Brakes are fine and loose. I don't know where to check or start. Anybody please advise?

I'd start in the transmission. Sounds like something is binding in there.

Rather be riding, instead I'm using Tapatalk

I see a broken u-joint on the left rear side of the tire. But would that cause the rear wheels to locked up?
