when i put the bike in reverse it will stall but if i hold the override button down before i shift into reverse it works fine, why is it doing this....

Usually a faulty reverse limiter - unplug the black wire at the CDI unit and see if the problem goes away - if it does, get a new rev limiter
Just saw one (new) on Ebay for $20....Both my Magnums do that ....sometimes.....and the rest of the time they work like they should.
If you haven't done it already, clean and dielectric grease the connections of the rev limiter
