I have a 2005 Sportsman 400 and I had to change my battery. As soon as I hooked up the new battery, the fan came on and it read that the engine was hot. Problem was I haven't even started the machine and the temps are in the teens. Someone please help
I'm very very new to this page and Polaris, But I've found one thing.
If anything happens in the fan part of the cooling system the fan will come on and flash hot when it is not.
Check ground wire to frame as there are more than one and one my be the one the goes to that circuit.
If you unplug the temp sending unit, the fan will come on and flash hot, there is a plugin under the hood that does the same and if fan gets stopped by lets say water. it will also flash hot.
I have no idea where it is or if it has one but you may also want to tap the fan relay as it may have stuck. Never know and hope this helps.
