We've got a '97 425 in the shop with the intake cam lobe problem. Questions:

1. Polaris has apparently substituted the 500 H.O. cam for the original cams in all of the applications that used the old design. Is the H.O. cam a direct bolt-in?? Any tuning changes needed???

2. Do the H.O. cams have similar problems??

3. We're going to need an H.O. cam if that is the way to go so we'll be posting in the Classifieds area for a good used one depending on what we learn here (customer is very short of money). :)

the older ones up to like 2000 did have a problem with the lobes wearing out prematurely. i don't think i would buy a used cam.

Yes the HO cams are a bolt in. Same motor, just bigger bore.
