I had a 2013 Sportsman 550 EPS but sold it to my father-in-law. I then purchased a 2020 Can-Am Outlander XT 650 which, I also recently sold. I just wasn't happy with some of the features. I was pleased with the twin-cylinder power tho... I plan to purchase a new Sportsman before spring and I plan to plow snow with it in the winter. I live in Northern Maine and we get a decent amount of snow. My driveway is about 150ft long.

Should I get the 850, or will the 570 be enough to handle plowing all that snow?

Either one will plow snow equally. I plowed for years with a Can-Am 400. Now I use a Polaris 1000xp. Both did the job just fine.

I have a 570 with a 60” plow and 250ft long drive and it has plenty of power pushing snow in northeast Ohio’s snow belt.

i just put a plow on my 335 and the blizzard we had in mich it went right through the 4-5 foot drifts that were in my yard

It's not really about the machines power, it's more about, tires, plow blade size and set angle, machine weight. 570 vs 850, for the most part you will loose momentum and traction before you run out of power.

I have my 850 set up with a rubber edge to plow gravel. All of my friends that plow with their 570’s have no issues at all, it plows great.
Maybe base your purchase decision on how deep your pockets are.

My 570 plows just fine, granted we don't get much snow here in Indiana but seems like each year we get one above average snow. Only one time have we had enough snow my 570 couldn't get through but my neighbors 30 hp john deer got stuck that same day too. My drive is gravel, 700 foot, and has an S curve in it. Even when we have some 12-14 inch snow falls, (not real often) it pushes through just fine.

Also, I would reach out to MottoAlliance on this website. They have a Denali plow system which is easy to install, works good, and when I bought mine was very affordable. At the time mine was shipped to my house for under 1/2 of what my dealer wanted for the Polaris set up. They used to offer forum discounts and often times have scratch and dents for sale.

How many forward's and back's with the plow? How many multiple storms doing that when its 30 degrees or less in a ATV seat? Clutch, that shifter bearing, core purpose of ATV? I don't think I want to invest those dollars, or depend on a ATV to get out. I think I'd rather spend dollars to equip the truck. If the op has property in Northern Maine buy an old truck with a plow and keep it in the woods uninsured/unregistered.

The only problem I had is running out of places to push snow to.

I plow with our 570--SE Idaho, 6300' elevation and plenty of snow. 48" blade, and adding the electric angler was a good move. I'm great at making our long driveway more narrow each time I plow when there's a seasonal buildup of snow that's more than 2 feet...

I’ve got a 72” plow on my 800 sportsman touring. Add 350lbs of sand bags on the back, I can push like no body’s business.

Don't compare apples to oranges here. It all depends on what kind of snow your trying to move. A wet heavy snow will be much harder to move than a dry powder. Then let the wet snow settle a day and it is twice as hard to move.
