Hello all, I'm new to the forums. I have a 2007 Sportsman 450 that I just picked up that doesn't show the correct speed. The guy I bought it from installed a brand new speed sensor and I even checked all the connections upon bringing it home. When I hammer on it and get going pretty good the speedometer doesn't seem to want to go past 10. While loading it onto the trailer the AWD did kick in telling me the speed sensor may not be the issue. I hope it isn't a faulty speedometer. Also if I were to replace the speedometer how could I transfer the mileage and hours to the new one? Thanks!

I have a 16 850 so mine may be a little different. I haven't had any issues to care, however I do recall reading somewhere that if you replace the face, you just pull the harness out of the back and plug the new one in. All the information is kept within the computer and will read the same miles/hours. Maybe start by disconnecting your battery and Speedo and let it sit for a few hours or a day. Then plug it all back together and see if anything changes. Always start with the free solutions first

If that is the case that would be awesome if it just read off the computer. I have read that the mileage/hours are saved to both the computer and speedometer but when you replace the speedo it will show 0 because the speedo doesn't read that from the computer. I did unplug the speedometer briefly but I will try to leave it unplugged for a longer period of time. Regardless, I would prefer not to replace the speedometer because they're $300+.
