I'm a new owner of a 1997 Sportsman 400 and in need of help for several maintenance items. I'm fixing everything up and completed items are listed at the bottom.

1. Repairing the drive belt cover. It has a hole worn in the top from drooping and rubbing on the main clutch. A new OEM cover is $300. What are other options? Possibly patching or making a plate.
2. Where are all of the grease zerks? I have found the rear bearing, 2 on the rear arm, two on the steering column, 2 on each side of front arms (4 total), 1 on each tie rod, one on each front brake caliper. What else am I missing?
3. Cleaning the front chain. What is the best way to do this? It has several years of thick grime on it.
4. Changing the drive train oils. What all has oil? The front differential and 4x4 transfer case. How many ounces of oil for each? The hub oil is changed. Am I missing any other oil? It's an hour drive for Polaris brand oil. What types of lubricants are compatible.
5. The oil light comes on when going down a 20% or > slope. Also sometimes while idling. Whenever the engine revs the light clears. Is this indication of a failing oil pump? What actually activates that light so I can better understand it?
6. Installing a spark arrestor. The muffler outlet points down with no removable covers that I know of. The bottom has two plugs one is about 5/8" and the other maybe about 1.5".
7. Anything else that I'm missing that I need to know about.

Completed items, new carb, new front brakes, new spark plugs, new tires, greased items listed on #5, new winch, changed hub oil.
