1997 Sportsman 400, sat on blocks for almost 10 years in the barn.

I am trying to remove the starter. I have removed the recoil cover, (very clean inside, I was impressed). I managed to take out 3 bolts, cannot get to the upper bolt inside where the skid plate was. Any one have an answer please.

I take it that this is the 2 stroke 400. Correct? If so you will have to remove the recoil housing(pull rope starter to access a couple other bolts that hold it on. Wish you luck.

I removed the recoil (pull rope cover), took out the bolts, there is one left above the skid plate can't get to it. I've decided to pull the flywheel, and I'm making my own puller. Can't see spending $$$ for someyhing I'll probably use once... Since I only really need to get the bendix out, seems the easiest way at this point. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks for the reply.
