Hi all

I have a 2001 Sportsman 500 6x6 needing a gearbox overhaul. Low gear whines pretty loud under load and it jumps out of hi gear constantly.

I need to have it out of action for as little time as possible and parts take more than a week to reach my location so I'm going to preorder those parts most likely to need replacement in the hope I can get the rebuild done in a day or so.

Can anyone offer tips on what parts are most likely to need replacing? Shift forks and dog gears seem likely.

Cheers

Damien

That's kinda what i thought , when i did mine. I found very little wear on the gears and hardly any on the shift forks.
Your trans. has two silent chains, be sure to get the short chain as well as i am sure it all stretched out. this effects it staying in gear.
After you get it back together and back in , you'll need to readjust your linkage, to where it is supposed to be.
