After sitting for a little while, I figured out my Sportsman 500 is not charging. I then figured out the pull start was full of water. I drained it and removed the pull start figuring I'd have to clean it all up. On another thread somebody posted the page from the manual about testing the stator. One paragraph says you should get .19 ohms when testing Y1-Y2, Y1-Y3, and Y2-Y3. However the chart directly below shows getting .43 ohms +-15%. Anybody know which is correct? I tested it and I consistently get .9 ohms across each, and infinite resistance to ground. However I would not be surprise if my cheap multi-meter is not very accurate at such low ohms. In fact when I press the leads together I get .7-.8 ohms and there's no way to zero it out. If I subtract that from 1 ohm, I effectively get .2 - .3 ohms which would seem to be within spec. Any suggestions on further determining if my stator is good or bad?
