I recently purchased a 2008 sportsman 500ho. A couple of weeks ago the fan began to blow continuously and the hot engine notification came on immediately after start up. I replaced the temp sensor but that didn't fix the problem. From what I have read, its most likely the ECM that needs replaced.

Question - if I replace the ECM, do I have to have it programed at a dealer or is it simply a plug and play fix?

Depends on which unit you are calling an ECM?

Most likely the controller module (part number 4011568 @ $525)
153355

This unit is plug and play - if it was EFI, it may have required programming
