Recently my 08 sportsman 800 has started making a howling noise in the transmission. It is definatly a metal on metal noise and is progressively getting worse. I stuck my finger in the granny fill hole and the fluid is a little dark but normal. It gets a lot louder on deacelleration but is still there on accelleration. It does this on all gears except park and neutral. Anyone have any ideas? The howling is not a steady pitch its almost like a its saying wowowow. Lol please help

I agree sounds like a bearing to me as well. Maybe dealer time...

Transmission noise

Try this before you take it to the dealer, You got nothing to loose and every thing to gain. drain that fluid when its hot after a run so the oil pulls all the crap or most of it out, Go to auto parts look for a automatic transmission flush in a can follow the directions on its use . drain it after a run when hot again. fill with the best recommend fluid avalible like royal purple etc etc. and see if tha helps it should give you some life before it dies or not it may live on to fight another day Ha ha good luck Moses
