I have an 04 600, that I noticed today if I have AWD switch off and spin the rear tires hard a couple seconds in the front drive engages... Is there a sensor that doesn't allow total disengement of front drive??

This is usually a worn out armature plate or a cracked rollcage inside the front differential. Could also just be very bad fluid. Either way, that is where your problem is.

I know on the 850's and a few others if the back wheels get really spinning the mechanical engagement tries to engage the front wheels. It is really hard on the system and was one of the first things my dealer told me about. I experienced it while doing donuts on the frozen lake.

This may be what your experiencing. I would check the front fluids and Sprague cage as stated above as well.
