I. Place the vehicle on level ground and set the
parking brake .
2. Remove the seat and front fender as described in
Chapter Fifteen.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable as described
in this chapter,
4. Remove the clutch assembly as described in
Chapter Eight.
5. Pull back the rubber boot (A, Figure 18) from
the electrical connector.
6. Remove the nut (B. Figure 18) and disconnect
the starter cable.
7. Remove mounting bolt (C, Figure 18) and detach
the ground cable from the starter.
8. Remove the remaining bolt (D, Figure 18) securing

You don't HAVE to remove the clutches but the bolt next to the inner clutch cover is tricky to get out. Definitely don't need to pull the front fenders. Don't know why they would tell you that?? You'll need skinny fingers and patience since you can only reach the one bolt with a wrench and can only turn a little at at time. Pull the seat, side cover and air box first so you can see it and reach it good. There should be only 2 nuts and a clamp to pull the air box out whole.
