I have a 1997 Sportsman 500 (non HO) if it sits it's hard getting started especially in cold weather it will run the battery dead before it will start at times and when it fires it fires for a second and dies, and it takes a few times before it will take off. I had cleaned the carb when I got it and the enricher seems to be in adjustment. valves are adjusted and cam is good. Just replaced the head gasket last fall.
