Hi guys

I've started to notice a starting problem with my 2008 Scrambler 500 after sitting for long periods of time.

The thing will just not start. Extended crank. I can see my fuel filter with nothing in it, and cranking over the engine does not put out much fuel. As soon as I take the fuel line off the exit of the fuel pump, fuel starts to pour out of the fuel pump exit. It's almost as like there's an air pocket which stops the fuel from being pumped. The same thing happens on my garden tractor and my motorcycle when I start them for the first time every year.

I've rebuilt the carb 2 years ago, fuel pump is original but once the machine is running it runs perfect.

Anyone know this phenomena? Not only a problem with my ATV.

Have you checked the fuel tank vent? Carburetor float bowl vent? Fuel lines for kinks? Fuel flow through the petcock? Vacuum to the fuel pump?
