Ok last week I posted that I couldn't get my 2015 Sportsman 570 to start. I'm still having issues. To recap I installed a winch drained the old low on liquid original battery to the point of no return but before I bought a new battery I jumped the bike from my TRUCK THAT WAS RUNNING!! It cranked over and ran while the cables where attached but died when I removed one. I didn't know at the time you shouldn't jump your bike from a running truck. Talked to the Polaris Tech he agreed with everyone on here that a new battery should fix the problem. Got a new battery, installed it and go to turn the key and I get a noise and vibration from a relay (top right, EFI position) in the fuse box and my starter solenoid starts making bad solenoid noises. I've checked all my fuses (good), replaced the starter solenoid, and replaced the chattering relay in the fuse box (Chassis Relay). Also checked the 10A breaker for continuity, its good. Rewired the winch to the distributing terminals. So I turn the key over and get the chattering relay again. I reinstall the instrument panel, since I took it off with the front plastic to get to the parts and the new relay stops chattering and I get a LO 10.6 message on the instrument panel. I just got this brand new battery and have even left it on the 2A charger for a night just to make sure. Ill charge the battery tonight and test the bike again tomorrow. I don't know what could be draining my battery now or if I can even start it. I made some videos so y'all can see what I'm talking about, links below. Any help is appreciated

Had the same problem. I think your problem started by using the winch, when you use a winch voltage drops and current goes up, this damaged your electronics some how. There is nothing wrong with jumping a bike off with a truck. My issues started after the first time i used my winch. I did everything you did above. Not for sure what fixed my issue, but i stopped doing it, i tore my bike apart checking everything. I pulled the starter contactor off of my rzr and still didnt fix the issue. Your starter is not pulling in, you will have to use a electrical diagram and check back to the starter relay to see if power is getting to and across the relay. Did you have voltage across the circuit breaker you found?
I have read several other threads on here with guys with the same issue. Seems like it starts after using the winch.

It could be a botch winch install but I've never had any problems ever when I hard wire something to the battery.

When I first wired the HF ATV winch I connected it straight to the battery. This was the stock battery, 2 years old. I played with the winch with out the bike on, realize I might have drained my battery and tried to start and it would barely try to start. Unwired the winch and charged the battery over night. Tried again in the morning and got nothing. Jumped it with the truck running and it cranked right over. Pull one of the cables off and the bike dies instantly. I didn't notice till after I jumped it the liquid level inside of battery was super low if not showing exposed lead. That's when I refilled battery, charged again and then Part 1 of the video happens.

Check ALL connections and make sure they are nice and snug including your winch connections. I had a similar issue with my wife's RZR a while back. Turns out I had a bad positive connection on the radio the radio.

Unrelated question but do you have anything else connected to the battery other than the winch?

check all your grounds . motor and chassis !

You need the contactor on switches power . It's probably draining your battery when it's off.

Undo your winch install and re diagnose.

The stock battery is cheap and small, to me it can't handle a winch. Using a winch with these cheap batteries is starting the issue. Winch drops the voltage too low and is causing high current on the system and some component somewhere is going bad.

I installed a second battery under my seat in the storage box, winch works fine now.

Nothing else is attached to the battery. I'm going to install a switch for it later but for the time being it is going to remain unwired.

I checked the grounds that I could find and the were tight.

I'm thinking I fried the starter so I'll work on testing it next.

If its good I'm going to have to take it in to the shop unless y'all have any other ideas.

OK just looking at the parts online, why the hell is Polaris jacking up there prices so much $438.99 for the starter! Ebay and Amazon charge $80-150. I can see a lil bit of price jump but what is the deal, and who would pay that much?

You can buy a Moose starter for around $185. I have installed a few and had good luck with them. Some Polaris parts they are VERY Proud of other parts not so much. Starter is one of the ones they really like. Swapping it out isn't that bad. I think on the 570 you can change it without pulling the clutches.

Does the winch have a wireless remote. If so it could possibly, very slowly be draining the battery since even when the winch isn't being used the remote is looking for a signal and after a week or so it will drain enough from the battery that the machine wont start. If it has a wireless remote without an on-off switch you will have to add a switch to turn it off when not in use

It is the wireless winch from harbor freight. I am currently wiring in a switch between the battery and the winch to prevent it from possibly draining the battery.


I did get the bike to start! Pulled the starter, which was pretty easy, but I had to TAP it out with a punch and a hammer. Tested it with jumper cables from the truck battery and it spun. So I re-installed the original solenoid, and put the starter back in. Tried to start it and it cranked over no problem. I will be replacing the starter when the new one comes in. So all this hassle and all I had to do was tap the starter. Hope this lesson I learned will help someone else down the line.

Did you started the bike without the winch solenoid installed?

Your problem sounds exactly like the problem I had with my wife's RZR to a T but my problem wasn't the winch just the positive connection to the radio. I was even losing charge just like you and in your case you are not supposed to lose charge with the wireless controller.

Correct the bike started without the winch hooked up.

Going to install a switch by the handle bar. It's going to go from the battery terminal to the fuse to the switch then the winch.

I think one of the winch connections is acting up. I don't mind the Harbor Freight winch but their electric connections are a bit funky.
