I have a 700 EFI that requires synthetic oil, but my new 06 Sportsman 450 manual just says to use 0-40 and it has to be SH (I am going from memory so I may be wrong), but the main question is that it didn't specify synthetic.

Do I have to use synthetic or can I use conventional oil in my 450? I don't know if it specified how much to put in there either, so if you know I would greatly appreciate the answer.

Thanks

I would use synthetic(BUT NOT POLARIS OIL) Some of us are protesting polaris oil:nutkick::silly: Use Amsoil,Mobil or any of the better brands, and 2 quarts is what it should take.

iv heard that polaris uses amsoil. they just put there name on it, and iv also seen it for sale at a few dealers. i use mobil. it cheaper by like $2 a qt. and most all sportsmans are 2 qts to change the oil.

Thanks. I like the mobile 1 too, but in 700 manual it specifies synthetic, but it didn't in the 450. I will, however, put synthetic in the 450.
