My temp sensor went out. The dealer wanted 80 bucks so i decided to bypass it and install a 2 position switch. It works like a charm when i turn my machine on i flip the switch on. I noticed better performance while keeping the fan running. Total cost of fix 5 dollars !! Woooohooo!!

The fan has two wires going to it . Cut the connector off. Take one if the wires and ground it to the frame. Take the other wire and connect it to a two position switch. Then from the switch run the other wire to the positive side of the battery.

What about a fuse?

There is an optimum temperature for engines. Too hot or too cool is not good. There is a reason they use a temp sensor and not just wire it to the ignition switch.

It would be ok as a temp fix...but would not do it permanently.
