I know there's folks here that will fall out when I say this , but I bent the contacts wide open instead of messing with it. No need for it for me. Been that way now for ten years.
So was ripping the shit out easier than adjusting the throttle cable correctly?I scratched my head for 2 weeks trying to figure out why it wouldn’t idle thank you to this group I ripped that shit out and it starts perfect. THANK YOU!
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣So was ripping the shit out easier than adjusting the throttle cable correctly?
Yea, i had a twin back in the day, scariest SOB on 4 wheels next to a Quadzilla, and these kids were talking about exactly what u just described and the 1st ride without it it’s goes wide open throttle on em…I’ve seen too many incidents of this happening, hell even my nitro powered rc’s all have either built in failsafe or a external installed, lose contact with the transmitter everything goes to 50% brake and neutral on throttle servo…a 8lb aluminum nitro buggy doing 40+ mph with no 1 home and mind of its own hurts like hell and can even kill somebody, sorry im ranting away i just hate to see someone get hurt or destroy a machine when you can literally usually fix the problem with a few minutes and some patience adjusting a cable or 2…That's funny (not literally) as the Blaster has a throttle safety switch mounted atop the carb and many owners decided it was not necessary and a PITA to adjust so they installed the TORS eliminator kit. The TORS device controlled idle and throttle release shut off. Eliminating the TORS required drilling a hole in the Mikuni VM carb body, tapping it for the idle screw and installation of a new carb top and cable. A secondary reason for eliminating the TORS device was the threadded ring that secured the device to the top of the carb was mis-manufactured and was about 1/2 mm larger than the threads on top of the carb body, so they came loose frequently and the threads wore out. A replacement threaded top was not available - it required replacing the carb, so companies like Motion Pro and White Bros created 'Eliminator' kits with a carb top that fit the threads properly and would tighten even on worn threads - since the kit was priced about $50 vs $300 for a new carb, they were very popular and a lot of Blasters met their demise by colliding with trees, cars, other ATV's, buildings and a few rocketed off cliffs or into lakes and rivers never to be recovered. Same thing happened to Banshees which had the same set-up on the carbs, but twice as much engine and it created a lot more excitement.
Couldnt he have just turned it off? Bailing seems so dramaticThat “ shit” might save your life 1 day, they installed them for a reason. Ever been in a 2-1/2 ton pickup truck and the throttle body linkage decides it doesn’t want to return to idle when u let lff accelerator???….i have and it’s scary as SHIT no pun intended. I do understand that the ETC can be a pain in the arse but better than being dead or even worse, alive and paralyzed vegetable . To each his/her own but i would @ least look at an alternative for the throttle kill if something were to jam up . Last weekend a group of kids were flying down my alley I flipped out on them. Turns out they were trying to chase down a kid on a yamaha blaster stuck wide open and dude had to bail and let the bike ride to its demise at the emd of that alley is a crossroad ans a solid brick building..
