Thats cool bob. hopefully polaris will do the same with my broken frame. im assuming your 6 month warranty is over with?

My 2013 scrambler also has this same problem the dealer is rebuilding the motor with an aftermarket crank where the gear is casted on the crank. And polaris is warranting the whole thing. Only 150 miles on mine thank god I bought the extended warranty

So Polaris is going with water ingestion as the cause?
I just don't see it...

UPDATE: hot off the press. Polaris has sent a BRAND NEW REDESIGNED crank to my dealer. It arrives Tuesday. Hmmmm, wonder if it will be keyed? Have to wait and find out. Photos on their way as soon as I get them.

Glad they stepped up. Hopefully not just press-fit... I'm interested to see.

That'll fix the immediate problem. When you use up a timing chain you'll need a crankshaft now.
Maybe that's not an issue tho.
How long do timing chains last on these engines?

My buddy picked up a brand new leftover Scrambler 850. 12 miles/3 days into owning it the same thing happened to his motor. It's now sitting in the shop waiting on parts to rebuild it.

Just rebuilt my 09 last weekend with new case and crank. Got it back installed pretty much today. Waiting for a new map sensor and 1 bolt to come in on Tuesday then will hope it fires right up. Sucks to have an 09 with blown engine and a 13 with rough idle both 850's.

My cam gear turned with 70 miles on the quad. Ruined the entire motor. Polaris told me they were going to rebuild the motor, I fought them, and got a brand new motor installed. I'm not happy with the quality of these machines!
is this a common problem?
Apparently because all the sudden mine lost power and is running really rough. Hard to start, stumbles and even the exhaust tone is different.

Same symptoms as "newtoford" had - I was there when his motor failed and pulled him out of the woods.

Awesome - I'm out of warranty
