so I just did a top end rebuild on my 1999 magnum and I put the head back on torqued everything down along with the jug and I wanted to set timing correctly, so I took the stater out and the cover to get to the sprocket on the crank and I set timing according to the Polaris manual with TDC and I put just the cover in the stater back on, but not the flywheel or the bolt that holds the fly wheel on, and I wanted to spin the motor over by hand to ensure everything sounded right before I started putting everything back together and when I cranked it over by hand, I cranked it, maybe 3-4 Times and then I go back over to look at the cam sprocket to make sure everything still looked right and the chain had jumped like five teeth and I’m just not sure what it is. I have the chain tensioner in there and the chain felt tight. I’m wondering if because I didn’t have the flywheel with the flywheel nut that that’s why it slipped a tooth but has anyone had this issue?
