Hi!
My friend is about buying new tires for his sportsman 500 6x6 2006.
Is it possible to go with 26" tire or should he stick with 25" as stock...?

According to atv.com the stock size is:
Front Tire (Full Spec) Goodyear 25 X 8-12
Rear Tire (Full Spec) Goodyear 25 X 11-10

The problem is to find fitting tires (25x11x10 is not very common in sweden).

What would you guys recommend?

Is it possible to put steel rims from a newer sportsman to get 12" on all axles?

the diameter of the wheels should be fine, stepping up to a 12" should cause an issue. its the overall diameter of the tire that would have the biggest effect. asScott asked, whats the spacing at the closest point on the rear tires.

Im not sure right now. I guess its a close call, and impossible If you want chains.
Just wondered if anyone knew a brand/model that would fit for sure:)
12" rims shouldnt be a problem, of course. But what about if the rims have different et (the centre of the rim could be moved sideways depending on which model).
Itp mud light comes in the right sizes. So do bkt wing.

Its hard to beat ny friends 6x6 in rough terrain. Great machines!

And another thing: if its hard to shift gears do you think the belt or the gear lever linkage needs to be checked over?
The machine has about 1400 hours...
