Hopefully ,you got the OEM style head gasket- the steel plate type-if you got the layered stamped style ,they are prone to leak.
On the 500, it has a torquing sequence, they want you to smah the gasket in stages, then loosen up, then retorque and do these diagnolly just as were tightening the intake on a car engine.
First stage-22 ft-lbs.
Second stage-51 ft.-lbs.
Third stage-loosen half turn
fourth stage-loosen another half turn
Fifth stage- Tighten to 11 ft-lbs.
Sixth stage-tighten 1/4 turn
Seventh stage-tighten another 1/4 turn-done

For the cam, with the pointer on the crank at top dead center, and with cam installed, set cam into chain, the two dots on the cam should be parallel with the top of the head, install cam gear onto cam, after installing ,you'll need to put some tension on the chain either temporarilly install chain tensioner or use a screw driver to put some tension on the chain, while doing this rotate the crank a couple times and reinspect timing marks, you may have to move the cam gear back a tooth or two. either way it has to be in time with tension on the chain.
