i have a 1997 trail boss, and i’m looking to buy a new carb, but the only ones i can find are for 2003-2012. does anyone know if one of those will work, or where i can find one that will work?

Your 1997 is a 250cc 2 stroke right? The trail Boss engines went along with the magnums They didn't go to a 330 engine until 2003. From 2000 until 2002 the Magnum and Trail Boss were 325 4 stroke engines. Before 2000 the Magnum was a 500 and the trail boss had the 250cc 2 stroke. Carbs will be different. But any of the 250cc 2 stroke carbs from the mid 80's on should be the same.

In that case you don't have a 1997 model. Or it had a transplant of the later model engine. Post up your VIN so we can help. It will either be a 17 digit one engraved into the left lower frame rail or a W97 number that Latebird posted on the right frame tube under the fuel tank

if you do indeed have the 330 engine in the 97 frame, then your parts issue gets more complicated since you will have to figure out what year the engine came from.
