Hi Guys,

I have had a problem when i ride that the bike loses power when it is warm after say 10 mins of riding. Checked the clutch and it looks terribly oxidised. Does it need to be replaced or can we just clean it up and service it?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Clutches can be cleaned. I think you might be losing engine compression. I would check it cold the check it again after it warms a little. Most 2 strokes should have 115psi compression or more.

Thanks for the reply

Are you saying that the oxidised state of that clutch doenst alarm you ? You suggested cleaning the clutch up - if so how would i go about doing that? I hear what you are saying about the compression thing and will check it out.

Thanks for your help

I have seen worse oxidation and rust and the worked fine. For cleaning,First use air to blow any loose dirt and debris out of the springs, etc. Make sure you don't have any pieces of a old belt stuck in the clutch springs anywhere. To clean clutch use hot soapy water with dish washing liquid. For the oxidation just use a wire brush. I think you are losing compression.
