I have a 2007 sportsman 500 x2

It has run great but I let the battery die over the last couple of months because I have been injured and have let a lot of things go. Well it started snowing a bunch and I need to plow my driveway. I tried to just charge it but that did not work. I hooked up some jumper cables to a deep cycle marine battery that I have and it works great but I have to leave the cables on.

I went an bought a new gel battery and hooked it up but still only get the click click clicking.

I have no idea what could be different between the jumper cable battery setup and a brand new battery. I am at the point of settling on it is just magic.

Any help would be great.

Temps?

did you test the new battery to verify the charge?

Remember as the temps go do so do the cranking amps. If you're stuck in the "artic vortex" in sub zero temps the bike batteries might not have the amps, where the deep cycle marine battery does.

Also, you need to verify that your charging system is working if you have to leave the cables on to keep it running.
