Just picked up a 2002 Sportsman 400, in good shape but the outer clutch cover could be replaced. Can't find anything about it but there's a 2005 500 HO being parted out near me, and wondering if that cover would fit? Part numbers are different but from what I'm hearing the only difference is a drain plug on the newer one. If anyone knows anything or has swapped them out, let me know, thanks

What is wrong with your MELON?????????

What are you looking for???????????????

The '05 cover most likely won't fit. Even the inner covers have different part #s.

Thanks for the help, but still not what I'm looking for. My bike is an 02 Sportsman 400.
The cover is the same for the following models:
The cover for the 02 is the same as the models listed - did you see an 05 500 in that list? No? That means the cover off the 05 500 is not the same and will not fit - find a cover off one of the listed models and it will fit. Easier yet, search for part number 5433451 or 5433451-070 or go to your friendly Polaris dealer, plop down $200 and get a new one.

My opinion? If you are not willing to spend $200 to repair/maintain the ATV, then you should get rid of it - it's typically cost about $1000 per year (average) to operate, maintain and repair one even if only used infrequently. Some will cost $5000 and some a couple hundred or less. At this point I'm willing to bet a clutch cover that you don't have it registered or insured. Send me proof of both in effect as of the the day before this post, and I'll send you a new clutch cover and you only pay the shipping cost.

I misread your post latebird, thought you were saying that those bikes have interchangeable covers, not including mine because it wasn't on the list. Not sure why you're asking for my registration and insurance, as I'm just trying to gather information to fix the things the bike needs. I don't wanna prove anything to anyone as I have the right not too, not sure why you tried calling me out over simple miscommunication on my part. Thanks for the help anyway.

I'm just trying to fix some things on the bike so I can get out on the trails and enjoy the weather, not trying to prove things to strangers on a forum. Thanks for the help guys but I think I'll leave the forum, have a good one!

🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 bro if you had searched the forum at all in advance, you would realize @latebird basically knows everything about these things and the replies you’re getting is because you basically challenged him in how your message came across, you could have just said that you didn’t understand, but telling him it’s not what you’re looking for made me laugh because he took a bit of time to make you a detailed list of exactly what you wanted. That list would’ve taken me a few days. Probably didn’t take him an hour but still took time and effort. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️😁 good luck. He still gave you a ton of eBay search info
