Just got my 2022 Ride Command 1000 home. Looking it over and adding hand warmers. Looking at the a-arms. No grease zerks. What the heck? All the complaining about wearing out A-arm bushing so they take away the zerks?

Service manual says to remove radiator and bottle when flushing fluid.
Really?

Any reason not to pick this up tomorrow and use it?

There are alot of the dates in the book most people don't follow. Change brake fluid every two years is crazy! I have never changed brake fluid. Even in my cars. I do follow the Front differential oil change dates. By 100 hours, it is all gummy and not working properly. I do that one at 50 hours. The other one is wheel bearings. The book does not say anything about greasing wheel bearing. I do them on the first service and then every 2000 miles.

The general consensus with any motor vehicle is 2 years for coolant and brake fluid. When I bought my '07 Silverado 1500 new, I did the brake fluid at year 12, and coolant at year 10. My '05 Sportsman 800 went all of 10 years on the OE coolant. I don't get paid to maintain my own equipment, so I slack pretty bad, lol. Now that I think of it, the brake fluid in my restored '74 RD350 is also 10 years old right now, going on 11 next summer.

As far as grease fittings, or zerks, go, they haven't used them for years. My '05 800 didn't have any, except on the front yoke of the rear driveshaft. All the suspension bushings started to squawk and get real noisy after 8-10 years. I just disassembled everything and loaded them all up with Amsoil waterproof grease, and never had an issue again. Made the machine ride 100x smoother, too.

Sold her in '19 and bought a paramotor

The new Polaris coolant is five years. Next summer she gets Preston’s for life.

Interesting. Guess they've been listening to their customers. I haven't touched anything newer than a '07, so I wouldn't know. At least in the ATV world. I just assumed they're all following the automotive world today - grease fittings are nonexistent. Just like quality .. but that's another topic for another day ...

Just my .02 - when they tell you something is "lifetime", change it anyway. You'll thank me later.
