bought new from dealer: 2015 Sportsman 570 SP Hunters Edition It has everything, heated grips, winch, work lights in the rear ect.. I'm having bad luck with batteries.. it started in 2018 when I had to have a stator replaced and a new battery from the dealership $$- all was good until May of this year and boom-another dead battery- not holding a charge, ect . So I had to replace the battery again and this time I bought a Duralast Gold AGM ETX15 . well its dead again (6 months) -and after charging overnight it only shows 10.44 volts, so im sure its a bad battery - a recent test of the stator showed it putting out 13-14 volts while running. So if I'm going to get another new battery I would appreciate any advice on a good name brand -( moneys no object at this point) *(i might also say that also bought a brand new battery tender and it was on the unit last weekend (with green fully charged light) and it still couldnt turn it before clicking and dim to no lights)
thank you !!

From what I can find, that model uses a Yuasa GYZ32HL battery - about twice the electrical size of a 15, but ?you didn't disclose the model number or VIN, so I'm kinda guessing - I looked up Polaris part number 4011138.

It's really pretty simple, if your battery is not correctly sized to the load and the charging system, it will suffer from high discharge rate and low charge rate. The charging system does not have sufficient out below 2500 RPM to charge the battery and when you add high demand accessories the speed the engine has to run to generate a charging current increases. You may need to be above 3500 RPM to have sufficient output to supply all the accessories before the battery starts to recharge. Depending on your use habits, you may need to connect the battery to a 1.25 amp Battery Tender* for several hours after each use.

I recommend after using, you connect the battery tender and monitor to see how long it takes to bring the battery back to a full charge - then use an outlet timer to turn the tender off after it has had sufficient time to fully charge - i.e. if it takes 4 hours to charge and go into the maintain state (one tenth of an amp) - set the timer to shut the tender off after 5 hours - then during periods of non use it will turn on and off for 5 hours every 24 hour period.

With the correct battery, correct charger (1.25 amps maximum output) and a charging regimen, the battery may last for several years.

thanks for the response! Looking at my dealer invoice its a 2015 Polaris model SPMN570 sp hunter, Interestingly back in 2018 when the dealership replaced the stator and battery, the battery that they used was not the black Polaris stock battery.( i cant quite remember the name of that battery but it had a red top?) . So I looked up the Yuasa GYZ32HL battery and its terminal location are opposite of what i need.. However the Polaris 4011138 looks like the original and is the ETX15 type so I guess that's the type I need ? ( positive on the left as you look at it).
I'm taking this Duralast Gold back to Autozone tonight to see what they say about the battery.

The battery tender I'm using is a NOCO GENIUS2D, 2-Amp Direct-Mount Onboard Charger, 12V Battery Charger, Battery Maintainer.

Mounts on rear!!! Seriously, this question was asked about a week ago. I found one that was something crazy, I think 300 CCA’s. I also saw some stuff that said a system with a too large CCA wasn’t necessarily good. Good luck though, I know it’s tough when you are plowing.

Polaris recommends

- Battery Tender 1.25 amp charger - 2 amps can damage the battery - the maximum charge rate is usually published on the battery. 2 amp id fine for your car or boat.

From the service manual:
142146

According to the service manual the positive terminal is on the left.
142149

But, the manual describes two different batteries that may be used and nothing identifies it positively - most references indicate positive on the left, but the conventional non AGM battery is indicated with the pos on the right

Thank you! thats good info - the battery I need has to have positive on the left side as looking at it. Last nights trip back to Autozone was productive as they tested the battery and said it was faulty and replaced with the same brand- type at no charge. Installed it last night and it fired right up and ran like a champ again. * after reading that about the amps on the battery tender I will order a new lower amp tender and install as well and HOPEFULY be good to go!
