I hate to beat a dead horse, but I'm a bit lost. I'm upgrading to 14" wheels on my '10 Sportsman 500. the big 3 wheel makers (ITP,STI, and Vision) all have different spacing. ITP is 14x6(4+2) front, 14x8(5+3)rear STI is 14x7(4+3) on all four corners, and Vision is 14x7(4+3)front, 14x8(4+4) rear. I'm only going to running 26x9x14/26x11x14 tires. what set will keep me as narrow as possible?I really don't want the tires going way past the fenders. I previously ran 12x7(4+3) ITP's with my old 26" mudlites and went back to the OEM alum.wheels w/26x8/26x11 PXT's for the better ride???

4+3 would be stock offset on your machine.

I'm leaning towards the ITP SS 312's I'm hoping the fronts 14x6(4+2 offset) will be more narrow than the 12"4+3's???

ITP Delta. I dented one bad last winter on a rock frozen in good under a couple inches of snow. Seen how much Polaris wanted and said @#$% THAT and got 2 for 25$ less then 1 of the Polaris. So now I have a spare.
And yes, it is confusing. I'm not a huge wheel guy tho, cars or otherwise.

yeah,the itp delta's are 4+3. i wish they made them in 14"
That's interesting then. Because I noticed no width change. I even have stockers up front. Looks normal.
Why are you wanting 14" rims ? A particular tire?

you will notice more in the front than rear....so with stockers on the front you wont notice much difference...

you probably wouldn't notice a big difference on the back, stock polaris 12" wheels are staggered, front rims are 12x6, backs are either 12x7 or 12x8(not sure) a 8" wide tire is pretty much as wide as you can go up front on a stock rim. Pretty much all 12" aftermarket wheels that fit a Polaris are a 4+3 offset, making the fronts wider with a bigger offset to clear 9"+ wide front tires. My 500 has the 26" Polaris Extreme tires 26x8x12/26x11x12(extreme junk in my opinion) I want to stick with 26" tires, but seems like 90-95% of 26" tires are only available in 9" wide. and I was given a great deal on a set of tires(26x9x14/26x11x14)

I'm in the same boat as you. I was looking at upgrading the tires on my 06 500 EFI which has the same tires as you have as OEM. There is nothing (in my opinion) that is an upgrade that isn't a 9" for the front. I guess that means wheels and tires at least for the fronts.

Is it better to get the same size for all 4 (in which case I'd go 10") or have wider rears like it is stock, say 9" and 11"?

I know the offset for the xp's is 6+1 but I think the older sportsmans are something else. Maybe 5+2 or 4+3?

the rim u need has to start with either 4 or 5 to get u far enough away from the tie-rod end. example: 4+3 or 5+2, those are standard 7' rim offsets. the second number will determine how far the rim sticks out beyond the fenders and the total width of the rim.
