Polaris Sportsman 500 HO 06 Engine Head Camshaft | eBay

I'm from the automotive world and reusing a cam is usually not a good idea. I got this quad for free from my father in law and have put a new flywheel and stator to get it running. It idled great but would pop and backfire out the carb. Thanks to everyone on this forum it didn't take me long to find the smoked exhaust lobe. Will this year of rocker and cam work for a 1997 sportsman 500? I thought the h.o. cam would be a decent upgrade since I had to get a cam anyway. Just trying to save some money by using the parts I need and selling the rest. Thanks.

Is it a drop in replacement? The part numbers are different. The same cam being used 10 years later without fixing the problem would be hard to believe. Also is there an oiling issue that needs to be addressed so it doesn't happen again? It was serviced at a dealer its whole life. Thanks again.

Prolly have to do some jetting, but I've done this numerous times, the old cams had oiling issues, these ones solved the problem
