I have a 1999 sportsman 500. I just got the carb rebuilt and had to put a new starter on it. Just before that I had to replace the choke lever. Now when you start it it will run ruff and you can not turn it off. Neither the key or the kill switch will turn it off until it warms up. After it warms up the engine smooths out and you can turn it off. Trying to fix this I changed the CDI module and I had a new coil so I tried that to. I need some help this is beyond me.

Pull the front cowling cover and make sure the wires are all connected. My father-in-law had the same issue and the black wire going to the ecu was ate thru by a mouse connected back together and all was good. The kill switch and key wouldn't work.

Double check because it is a single wire and is tough to see if it has fallen behind. We ended up finding it the 2nd time we looked. I'm guessing the key and kill switch don't work or is it one and not the other?
