I just found a 2000 Xplorer 400 for a buddy of mine that wwe picked up on Friday. We got it for $1000 bucks with ramps, helmets, etc, One owner (a buddy of mine) and olny 83 hrs 300 miles..

What is the largest tire these bikes can pull stock??

We will be snorkeling the bike as well.

ok, I havent posted in a while but i got thewater pump seals in, filled it with coolant and started it up, also got the oil block off installed and the carb rebuilt, then it was onto the snorkel untill my stage 1 pipe gets here. i know you guys gave me some snorkel input, but i went a different way. here are some pictures, let me know what you think:

Few more updates, started buttoning some things up last night, its starting to look like a fourwheeler again:

 

took it for a ride this morning and it covered me with antifreeze from the overflow...any ideas?

 

is it pushing compression into the cooling system? could be a bad head gasket

 

thats what im thinking, thats not to hard to do right? i am a mechanic by trade and have done headgaskets on everything from push mowers to dt466's, just wondering if there are any tricks.

 

I haven't done one myself but I can't imagine it would be too difficult.

 

OK, got the head off, now i have bigger problems, i think. Could you please take a look at this video, i am afraid the piston has too much play in the cylinder

that's never good. did you get to run it long enough to tell if it was using any oil?

Sorry for not updating as much lately, i wound up putting a new top end on it and it is 100% right now, I finished it up last night here are some pictures of the finished product:

did the bumper bolt right up or is there some persuation needed?

Is that a stock front bumper?

 

looks good. that headlight isn't going to be much use though

 

they are 26" and the bumper is off of a 2002 sportsman

The headlight mounts are broken so the light wasnt much use anyway

 

hello i was woundering if you could tell me what size the pipes are on the snorkel and how my ebows you used . i rly like what you did to it. i wanna do it to mine but dont know how to do it that nice like you did.. and you do that carb lines also ??? did you move the oil tank or you mixing it if so what you mix it too 40 to 1 ?

all of the tubing was 1.5" and i used 12 total elbows, i ran all the vent lines into the pod and i removed my oil tank and am premixing 40:1

What size jet did you use for the carb since you snorkeled it !

 

When I snorkled mine I just played with carb and I was fine . Or use 3 inch for your air box so you get air flow better . My YouTube channel is mud .addiction I have pic on there
