been reading and reading about upgrading the stock tires on a 13 850xp. been going brain dead after using the search button. thought i had time but my wife and her girlfriend went for a ride on the ranch today and came back with my xp with two ripped tires ...
so now have less time to study and need to buy so i can ride next weekend. we live on a hill/mountain with a lot of steep slopes , not much for trails on our land until we start cutting our own. its very hot, dry in spring and summer . a lot of loose topsoil and organic debris in nor cal. just moved in but it can get a bunch of rain, found a ton seasonal creeks and waterfalls and seasonal ponds

big question what is the best option for me for all around tire and size for getting around trails, off trail on the slopes and summer riding in rocky tahoe

For what you described, I would select the Bighorns from your list. The Roctanes are supposed to be a pretty good tire, but they are new and I have read of a few problems with them. Bighorns have been around for years and I think they are the best all around, all conditions tire you can buy. They aren't a mud tire, but will hold their own with anything that's not a dedicated mud tire.

Have you considered the Greenball Corporation for tires? GBC tires are decent, and the price is right! They have a tire very similar to the Big Horn, called Dirt Tamer but I'd look at the Grim Reapers, if it were me. They are a 8 ply radial tire. The best price I've see on these tires is here. They add 5% if you are not a member. I order'd from them and it said like 7-10 days but they arrived in 2.5 days.

a few excellent tires would be the PitBull either Rocker Uber XOR or Growler Uber XOR or the STI Rocktane XD tires. These are all 8 ply rated radial tires that are super tough.

Here is the link to them:

Pit Bull tires for car & light truck

STI Tires tires for car & light truck

think im going to try the Bighorns, guess 26inch is the only way to go since they don't make a 27, now to find a place that can get them to me quick and fairly cheap.

does anyone know if the raised white letters side can be mounted facing inward? or is it white letters on both sides?

Yes they are on one side. I have mine on facing in. Had them out on my last quad and they look like crap after they get all stained and dirty. At least they are a big 26. I had 27inch Roctanes on before them and I didn't notice it that much when I went back to 26`s.

I have the Roctanes, had two of the earlier tires the back that had a mold issue I guess, the slowly leaked down, STI sent me two new tires for free and they have been on for three weeks and no issues. I really like the tires, never had Bighorns so can't compare, I was going to get then until someone talked to me about the Roctanes, so I thought I'd try the new tire, couldn't go wrong either way.
