Hey guys I got a 05 sportsman 400. I just got some vision 12x8 off ebay. Now looking to put tires on was going to with a 25x10x12 all around cuz the auction came with two wheel spacers too. My question is has anyone tryed either of these tires? I seen them at local shop and the look freakin awesome. Im just worried they will be a little heavy 11 pounds per front and 5 pounds per rear. What to you all think thanks.

RipSaw tires

I have a friend that has the RipSaws on his 750 KingQuad and they are Awesome he has over 2 thousand miles on them and the corners of the tread are not eve rounded they seem to be a very good tuff tire we ride in AZ alot of hard packed terrain rocks dried up creek beds to the mud and snow and i have to give them props they kick ass looks like they are going to a very high mileage tire I highly recommend them on the down side they do run short they say 25 but only measure 24 inches tall over all an excellent tire for the price

The Ripsaws are great at slow speeds, they ride rough, just like any aggressive tires. They are extremely heavy, let me repeat cause I cant stress enough, they are EXTREMELY HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY! I had a set on my 850 and the rears were showing wear down to sips groves in them after 500 miles. They will tax you 400 for power. I do not in anyway recomend them. They are more of a UTV tire, spend your money on something else, you will be much happier. I just posted a bunch on these tires. My 26x11x14 rears weighed 38 pounds without the rim! I dont believe your 25's weigh much less considering rim difference!!:kabong:

thanks for the heads up on the weight. The only weight i found was 27lbs for them from some store. I was also looking at kenda bearclaws. I run mostly hard pack and coal roads and a mud hole here and there. Was wondering how 26x9x12 would be all around. I like the look of all them being the same. Also anyone tryed the buzz saw how are they on weight.

I put 26" on my 01 500 HO and had no troubles. The one problem I did have was with power, I bought XTR's when they came out with wheels. You really noticed the power loss. Myself and this is what Im lookin to do now on my 850 is find lighter tires vs tread depth. If you mainly hard pack and coal roads you dont need over an inch of tread. The more tread the rougher they ride and they tend to float at higher speeds. You can go through almost anything at slow speeds but you will feel them on coal roads and hard pack trails. I have never had kenda's but I myself have been looking at the radial htr's. Even the bearclaws dont have a tremendous amount of tread so they will be better suited for your riding conditions I looked for weight for your buzzsaws but didnt find anything. Tires are a tricky subject and 9 out of 10 times people buy to much tire for what they really need! People will say you need 8 ply tires for coal roads but do you really? I have put almost 2000 miles on stock 3 ply maxxis tires on my 850 and one of my personal favorite tires, the good year tracker "P", is rated at 4 plys. I have over 10000 mile on my 500 and 7500 of it was with tracker "P's". Dont go overboard, you will be happier in the long ride!!!

I've got 26" Ripsaws on Polaris rims and love them so far. There is a definite wobble when you reach higher speeds, but I don't ride my wheeler 50+ very often and I've really only noticed it on pavement. The Ripsaws have gone through everything I've thrown at them so far. My 850 doesn't have a problem with the added weight over stock.

Maybe they are getting better at making them! I know I have talked to a few techs at polaris shops since they became an option. There words were they have had more returns on them then people liked them. He is riding a 400 to I believe. I know when I got mine I could not believe how much earth they would move! Mine started shakin bad at 40 + miles per hour. Hell they sent me a new front tire cause it was 2 pounds out of balance. Youu couldnt ride it with that tire on it! It got better when I got a new tire but not that much and the rear tire weighed 49 pounds with rim in it! Stock rear weighed 28 pounds. That is alot of added weight when you add up all four corners not to mention wear and tear on suspension, steering and drivetrain(clutch and BELT). I could run duel stock tires and be close on weight!
I like to ride fast, maybe to fast at times but thats my style. I didnt buy an 850 to putt around on!!

Well have a email to sedona to try and get a weight on the different sizes. I really dont want to kill all my power on the 400. I mostly like the rip or buzz saw is because for how much i ride and use my atv they will most likely dry rot before i wear them out lol. Also i have over 180 bucks in cabelas points so i could get all four around 220 to 250. Was also wondering how 26x9x12 all around would work. If not im goin with 25x10x12 or 26x10x12. But it all depends on weight of tire. Thanks for all input and keep it coming

I know I search the weight and found it on other forum. The info wasnt right. I weighed mine myself on scales at work and thats where I came up with my numbers. Like I said though mine were 14" rims so wouldnt help you much.

Sedona sent me an email for the weights on the sizes im looking at. Buzzsaws dont seem to be to heavy. What do you all think about running 9 inch wide all around

•Buzz-Saw 25x8-12 = (24.0 lbs.)
•Buzz-Saw 25x10-12 = (28.0 lbs.)
•Buzz-Saw 26x9-12 = (29.0 lbs.)
•Buzz-Saw 26x10-12 = (29.9 lbs.)

•Rip-Saw 25x8-12 = (27.6 lbs.)
•Rip-Saw 25x10-12 = (32.5 lbs.)
•Rip-Saw 26x9-12 = (33.1 lbs.)
•Rip-Saw 26x10-12 = (38.3 lbs.)

Those are not light weight tires. The Buzz-Saw's are heavier than Bighorns and the Rip-Saw's are heavier than Pitbulls. If you are concerned about the weight of tires then these aren't very good tires for you..

I think you will be happy with them

i preferrr a little wider on the rear but give it a shot i bet it looks good and rides better

Honestly, I think people worry way to much about the weight of their tires. If you add 15-20 lbs to the over all weight of your atv, so what. As I have said before, people never think twice about adding a passenger (150 lbs?) or several gallons of extra gas (30+ lbs) or who knows how much in storage boxes. If you are worried about top speed then maybe you should be riding a sport quad instead of a utility. There is a reason they put a high and low range on these machines. No shame in dropping into low when needed. If I were you I would buy whatever tire I wanted and not worry about it. Go get them and enjoy.

I am concerned about weight for my riding style. As I stated before, I have these tires and there great to 40 mph. When you get beyond that they shake and ride extremely rough. I personally think doubleling the weight of you rear tires is too much for a 400-500cc machine. Not so bad on a 850 but huge on a machine down on H.P. Just my thought, I would go with big horn if you have to have a radial. If not I think Zillas or Dirt commander's. Dirt Commanders by the way are 8 plys but almost 10 pounds lighter then most radials!

I think im going to go with buzzsaws. Just need to decide if i want 9 or 10 wide all around. Also once i get my new wheels in im going weigh them out and add it to the buzzsaw and then weigh my stock tire and wheel just to see exact difference. I do also have a sport quad that i use for hill climbing and going fast. I just dont want to be in H and get on it and the bike falls on its face. I dont mine if i lose some top speed just dont want a drastic change in acceleration.

When I went with 26" XTR's on my 500 ho I lost snap, zip, or power over the mid to top end. I didnt lose top speed, I gained cause the tires were an inch taller. I just needed more room to get it goin! I say go for the buzzsaws! Thats what you want and Im sure you will be happy. Any tire you put on any machine will change the way it runs, weather its handleling, power, traction and just what you feel in the seat. I by no means have any clue what buzzsaws will do! I know no one that has them nor have I. I have had ripsaws and unless I was riding in tight technical trails in low range I would never buy them again.I had bad experiance with the personally and never would recommend to anyone. I ride fast, I have always like riding fast!

lod666ftw how was the sizeing on your rip saws? Were they true 26s or did the run shorter or taller.

#19 ·
I never measured but they had to run alittle small. might be bigger if I ran more air. I ran about 2.5 pounds.

I guess it all depends on the terrain you wil be riding more tread Equals more weight and longevity of tire life IMO , I just put Duro power grips on my 500, they are knock offs of Big Horns and i think the rears together weighed 49 lbs. 6 ply 25x10x12 check out ATV Television on U tube they do some really good tire tests

After Looking around and seeing the military polaris runs 26x8x14 all around. I went with 26x9x12 buzz saws. Wheels and tires should be here next week. Once i get them mounted going to weigh them out compared to stock. Switchin to aluminums should help. Then i will give them a good test to see how they work. Also think i may get a clutch kit found a epi utilty kit for 149 locally. Going to run tires first then switch in kit. Maybe write a review on the tires then.
