I recently purchased 400 Scrambler 4x4. It had an aftermarket exhaust silencer on it. Way to loud. I do believe the rest of exhaust is stock. I found a used stock exhaust complete. I removed aftermarket exhaust silencer and put the new stock silencer on my quad. I started it up and it was alot more quiet. took it for a test ride and the stock silencer started to glow red with heat. It also started to eject tiny sparks out of exhaust silencer. any ideas?

Most stock exhaust glows from the heat, thus the reason they surface rust so fast. As far as the sparks, there is a good chance that there was just loose particles inside that are burning there way out. Ride it a couple times and see if it blows out and stops.

Depending on the year, some have a plug in the bottom you can remove to clean it out. Remove the bolt and with the machine cold or the use of a rag when hot, cover the tail pipe, rev the engine and watch for debris to come out of the hole.
