I recently bought a 2013 sportsman 500 ho. The other day my brother was riding it going 50 mph he said it slowed down quickly and smelled like burning rubber. I took a look at it and the drive belt was shredded. I replaced the belt and rode it for 5 minutes and it seemed fine. The next time I went to ride it I noticed a weird clanking noise when going over 10 mph I looked at it and the front driveshaft was really lose then I noticed that the mounts foe the part the drive shaft goes into in the front were snapped so that entire part is loose. Also the axle to the front right wheel is disconnected. What should I do?

I'll take pictures when I get the chance. Thanks

I took it to a dealer for service and I guess I really got ripped off by the guy i bought it from. The mechanic says it has a bent frame, needs front struts, 2 wheel gearing, and the front differential. Got up to $3000 in new parts and then called me and recommended I considered it totaled for insurance money. Unfortunately because the title just came in the mail today I didn't have it insured yet.

Any ideas on how to get the most money back out of it?

Tough call man. Sorry that you're going through this. How mechanically inclined are you? If you're confident in your mechanical abilities, get a service manual and look for a frame with a title on Ebay or a local motorcycle/atv salvage yard and start swapping parts over. The rest of the parts you listed can be had on Ebay for a relatively good price. You should be able to buy everything you need for less than $1k. Its a lot of work but the positive of doing all that work is you'll know the quad inside out! If you have some friend's that'll help for pizza and beers you should be able to get it done relatively quick. Where are you located? Might be some members on here close to you willing to help out.

Since you're in Macomb, there's a place in Houston Ohio called Bob's Cycle Repair. They also have a salvage yard. It might be worth getting a list of all the part numbers you need and give them a call. They might have some of the parts, including the frame, that you're looking for. If i still lived in Lapeer County, I'd help you out.
