Just barely past hand tight is for the older hub-Hilliard style machines on the front.
I think around 80 ft.lbs. is the actual number. I don't worry about the actually torque value. I run them up with a 1/2" impact and then a little tweak to get the cotter pin hole aligned. Not hammer on it. I've never had a problem. I've got other more important things to worry about than getting that nut to any exact torque. If doing it by hand, about as tight as you can easily get it with a 1/2" ratchet would be somewhere around 80 ft.lbs. In other words, don't lay down on it with a cheater pipe...just good and tight is all that matters. :grin
