I changed my front diff fluid out to the amsoil front diff fluid today and was coming off a hill in adc to see how my 1000 would react to the new fluid and heard a loud clunk from the front diff and sounded like something had broke so I took back home and drained the fluid and didn't see any chunks or shavings so filled it back up with amsoil and took off another hill and again a loud clunk two times so I took it back home dumped the amsoil and put polaris demand drive fluid back in it and all is well again no clunking adc working as it should and my 1000 did not like the amsoil and just wanted to pass it along and not bashing the amsoil my atv just didn't like it and just wanted to pass it along to prevent a diff failure

I've used Amsoil in the engine, trans, front and rear diff sumps of my 2012 Sportsman 850 without issue. My 850 ADC system is the older design that has a separate sump from the front diff. I had never changed the ADC fluid until this past February when put Amsoil front diff fluid in both the front diff and the ADC. So far, no issues. In the past I've used Amsoil in a Sportsman 500, 700 and 800 as well. I plan on using it in my 1000 after break in. Don't want to start a lube war. I've had good luck with Amsoil and like the convenience of ordering it along with stuff for my truck, tractor, chainsaw, etc....

Luckily nothing BROKE

Luckily nothing BROKE and you were able to put that $15 bottle of Polaris Demand Drive fluid back into your Front Diff which by the way - that $15 bottle will last 3 oil changes.

So how much money did you spend on the 2 Amsoil Front Diff Fluid change? and Time?

But the more Important Question is - what if something DID BREAK and the cause was due to the fluid used. Regardless if it's Amsoil or any other brand other than Polaris. That would have SUCK Big Times.

I know Polaris Oil is nothing Special but I also know it will work without issue other than human error (Adding too much fluid, not enough fluid, etc...)

This is just my thinking but for the Front Diff and Transmission - I'll stick with Polaris Brand. Now for the Engine Oil - I can see using another brand if you really want to. But at $35 for a Polaris Oil Change kit from Amazon - I'm good with that. It's not like I change oil 3x a year or anything like that - it's more like 1x year on two bikes.

Also if you're racing or into extreme abuse - maybe there's better High $$$ fluids out there but for using your ATV for what it's built for - why not just use Polaris Fluids. $35 for Oil Change Kit, $15 for Front Diff (Good for 3 changes) and $16 for Transmission fluid. It can't be because $66 is too much money to spend on your $4k-$5k-$10k Bike.

I will always spend more $$$ for good fluids if I know 3 things:
1) It's better than OEM
2) It will benefit my atv/bike/car/truck in the long run
3) It's proven to work with no issues - that's what Forums are for (Thanks to the OP for letting us know he had issues using Amsoil Front Diff on his specific bike)

It's like buying a $50k Rolex and being too cheap to get it serviced/maintained every 5 years or taking it to the guy down the street instead of to Rolex directly for $500ish. Geez Whiz

Or buying that $5k Wilson Combat Super Grade .45 ACP and using the cheapest bullets you can find. My Oh My
