Hi I am new here I have no idea how to disassemble the clutch off of a Polaris scrambler 500 4x4. I am needing to replace the buttons. Any suggestions to "work around" specialized tools would be appreciated.

I would assume your machine is very similar to mine(sportsman 500) The secondary clutch comes off real easy. Just remove the center bolt and it should slide off on a spline. Taking it apart is where you need some tools. Below is one I made to do just that. Good luck.

Well .......the "buttons" you are talking about are in the "secondary" (rear) clutch.

The "primary" clutch (drive) is fairly easy to take apart but you need 3 more "special tools. You can make those too. It has to be taken off the bike to totally disassemble. For example the "spider" is on there with about 185-200 foot pounds of torque. I can show you the tools I made, if you want to make them......OR you can buy them.
What is wrong with your drive clutch that you want to take it apart?

OK.....I see what you're talking about for the primary clutch. I replaced the buttons when I rebuilt mine also, and a lot of other things.
We're all lazy sometimes, but if you're lazy with no money , you're in trouble! :) I made my own tools because I can't pay someone big money to do my work for me. Plus I enjoy tinkering! Below are the tools (and pics) you will need to buy or make.

Clutch puller , Spider tool , Hold down tool

You better have a long "cheater" bar to turn the spider off.....It's on there pretty good!
