Yeah some guys do. But that's on cheaper inferior tires. Also if guys are running roads at speed they'll have them balaced. My wheeler gets the snot pounded out of it so depending on how new the front end parts are I may get some wobble at speed on pavement. But running my wheeler on pavement at speed is rare. So it just never concerned me.
I do , makes a big difference at highish speeds my current big horns didnt need much weight ,balanced as well as an automotive tire. My old itp mega mahems took 12 to 14 ounces per tire , i did mine at work on an automotive balancer runs smooth up to 80mph ...is it necessary ..likly not for 70 percent of my riding but it is nice on a long straight or the odd gravel road
Its according to what tires you buy and if you run any highway. The tires I run are so true that they don't need any balancing and are smooth as silk at 70+ mph on blacktop. Some tires will wobble and shake like the front end is about to fall off at 35-40 mph and MUST be balanced if you run any road at all.
For example, the brand new Polaris OEM PXT tires that came on my new machine. I ran them about 50 miles before replacing them with a REAL set of tires. I frequently run a few miles of road between trail heads and will not tolerate wobbly tires. I could have balanced the OEM's but knew I eventually wanted bigger better tires and decided to just get them now while the OEM's were new and would bring top dollar when I sold them.
