EPS light!

So I got to the bottom of my stripped oil drain hole. Now onto the next issue!

I’ve had my EPS light on since last fall and have been doing some reading. Most threads start with making sure your battery is good. I’ve done that, it’s all good there.
Next is the eps relay. Which has taken me to multiple threads, and a lot of digging around on the atv to find the damn thing. Finally I have found it. I will post pics so anyone with a 2011. 850 knows where to find it. Not easy to find, as it seems the relay is in a different spot depending on bike and year.

Personally I think it’s elusive so you give up and bring it to the dealer! Lol

Anyway. Found the relay, it’s F’d, beyond belief.

I’m looking for tips on how to go about fixing it. Pics will show that Its not quick job of contact cleaner and dielectric grease.

What do you think!?

Thanks for the reply! Any idea if it’s a straight swap of wiring? Do I follow the wiring straight to the eps or wherever it goes, and undo the electrical connector on that end. Just wondering fit what kind of electrical work is entailed with this fix.

I don’t want to get in over my head.

I appreciate any feedback :grin

So I looked up the part. I’m just noticing that on the relay itself it’s not the exact same lettering, and numbers. Is it possible that this isn’t the eps relay. I’m 99% sure it is. Not sure why it would have be different.

You just have to open up the harness by clipping the little zip ties on the covering, peal it back to separate the wires to the relay and cut them off. Then solder or use crimp on connectors to add the new relay in. The kit has a full set of instructions with it. Looks like they've added a mounting bracket on it to relocate it up out of the water and mud.

So just a quick update! Got the relay kit in a few days ago.. it was installed with ease. Cut the old one off at the relay. Wire the new one in using the butt connectors and shrink tube provided in the kit. Started the machine up and! No more EPS light!!!! And power steering working once again! So happy! Thanks to all who provided help and advice!:grin
