Painting the motor

Hoping I am posting in correct area. So I painted my motor with two light coats of black hi temp engine paint. A friend of mine has advised me to strip the paint off. His reasoning is that black will increase the engine temp where i may have cooling issues since it's a 2 stroke motor. I was advised to go with keeping it a silver color or blue, anything but black. Anyone have painted their motors black and had issues? Or should I take his advice and strip off the black paint?

Is the engine free air cooled (no fan moving air across the engine) If it isn't water cooled, I would strip off the paint regardless of color. Seems to me that anything on the surface of the engine would inhibit heat transfer to the air. If its a water cooled model, i would think it might run a bit warmer but it shouldn't make a difference.

In that case, it might run a bit warmer than before, but it shouldn't be a problem.

The paint won't hurt cooling much, if even at all..... now if you chromed it, that would be a completely different story. Chrome works as insulator.

Note, many motor cycles (even air/oil cooled Harley's) have "blacked out" engine options these days!!

you might be slightly warmer, but there isn't enough of an insulation factor in paint to make much of a difference.
