Hey guys, I have what I think is a 04.5 Sportsman but am unsure. I have the straight shift pattern, and what looks like the 2004.5 plastics. My father has a 03 Sportsman 400 and the plastics look different than mine. So are the plastics different on a 2004 and a 2004.5 or not?
Thanks!

The plastics on a 2003 and a 2004.5 that I had both 700 twins were the same. And both had the straight shift pattern? You need to look at the serial # to tell. Also it will have a date of manufacture right next to the serial #

The headlight pod is different and the render flares are different between the two. The plastics should fit each other. From what I could tell. All the twins had the inline shifting and the 4wd in the diff. In 04.5 all the sportsmans went to inline shift and diff 4wd.

Pretty sure the plastics between the two are different...... all the way around. Different Grill, Cabs & Racks!

I was thinking the 2004.5's had the same skins as the 2005 models..... just a little differnt front rack though, with no storage. Must have been using up old parts for the 1/2 year machine, before switching over to the 2005 body style design? :dunno:

Well it appears the right foot well part number is 5433929-070 and is the same part number on both parts lists i can find and as for the rear rack it appears the part number is 2632836-070. The only catch there is it appears that there was a different part number for an earlier model, but it was updated to the same part as the later model at some point. Just for reference, I am just using a cycle parts website online, and looking at the 2 different models. if you would like to double check go to cyclepartswarehouse.com or any other online parts dealer, check the parts breakdown. But that is what i found.
