You'll get lots of opinions, but probably a universal one is that you don't need OEM Polaris. However, there is a lot of junk out there so if you aren't sure then you could just get OEM.

I get Interstate Batteries for all of my boats, ATV, truck, and snowmobiles. However, the ones at most stores are junk in my opinion. I go to a distribution store near me that has a little retail shop in the front. I have gotten great durability out of the ones that I have bought there.

A friend of mine worked at Johnson Controls battery division, he said they take apart all brands to analyze them, and that Exide was one of the worst made.

Johnson Controls® manufactures brands such as Duralast®, Diehard®, Kirkland®, Motorcraft®, and Interstate®.

I used a 4 battery Battery Tender. I keep it on a timer so it only charges at night when the ambient temperature is cooler. I set the timer for 4 hours midnight to 4 am. I found that keeping the tender on 24/7 eventually kills the battery, especially OEM and lead acid batteries. I like the AGM batteries.

The small tenders I used in the past, plugged in 24/7 boil out and ruin the batteries way too early. They would overcharge. When I started putting them on a timer and shorten the charge time no problem. I also have a lot of time, 60+ years learning how to treat batteries and keep them lasting longer. For the last maybe 25 years I have a large metal toy barn, with 2 boats, a camper, 5th wheel, zero turn mower, Polaris 800, Polaris General and a dump trailer. It gets hot during the day even in the winter here in Northern California. The heat in the building and charging during the daytime is a battery killer. It really depends on the ambient air temperature the battery is exposed to while charging. This method over the years has doubled the life of most of my batteries.

Must be some lousy tenders, even our firetrucks are on tenders 24/7, not once did we ruin a battery.
My 2 ATV's and one SXS have tenders on them, the battery in my 2015 RXR (9 years now on the same oem battery) and my 2016 XP all have the original batteries, my 2015 XP 1000 had 1 battery finally get weak BUT I snowplow a lot with that ATV, my son in law took the old one and is still using it today.
