White smoke is coolant, I would look into replacing the head gasket

 

What is the head gasket? Picture? And how much woukd it be to replace

 

You know where the cylinder is. Its what the piston is inside of. At the very top of the cylinder is the cylinder head. you take the cylinder head off and that how you get to the head gasket. you have to get manual and a torque wrench to retorque the cylinder head when installing back. Best to do if you are not sure whats wrong with it or you havent ever worked on a engine is to let dealer do it. Sorry for long post

 

do exhaust odor smell strange like sweet. that mean coolant is leaking into engine causing white smoke

 

one more thing check your sparkplug should be dry with no liquid on it

 

Okay I will do it right now and check for a smell

Very likely head gasket. The gasket isn't too expensive. The labor would be more. If the head is removed and not re-torqued in a very particular way, you have problems. If your not comfortable doing this work, it's best to pay a qualified mechanic.

I put up a post to see if anyone could do it in Peoria Az for cheap. I was hoping this wasn't it. You think it was caused by my brother starting it without changing the oil and filter or any of the fluids?

 

no dont think it was your brother

 

No it was because it sat for a year or two. Gaskets expand and shrink when you use the machine. When you don't use the machine, the gasket doesn't do anything but get hard and brittle. Then the. Next time you go to use the machine, the gasket cracks and leaks instead of expanding.

Has nothing to do with oil or other fluid changes/maintenance.

Okay an my mom was sayin I should have hand cranked it instead because using the electric start blows it when you haven't got the new oil broken in. Is that true or is it solely the fact of the weather.

Well I'm not exactly sure though because it doesn't idle and when I put it in drive it shuts off. When my bro was working on them black liquid was spilling out. You think that was oil?

 

Let's take a step back here for a minute. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere in the thread, but the Hawkeye 300 is air cooled. If the engine smokes, it can't be coolant. The compression is easy to test, but the causes of the smoke are limited to fuel or oil. - MarkC

Lol don't worry i feel even stupider when i dont know where anything is. I got it to idle today though. I think it was the gas im gonna try and start it again

 

Okay I'm just taking it in to the shop along with my 2 eton viper 90's and my other hawkeye that needs the trottle cable replaced. I will start a new thread when there all fixed up. I'm also thinking of getting a trailblazer with neff bars

Mine isn't having gas spill out but it is smoking like that. Is it also smoking from the exausht and also mine wont even fire without spraying out the carb before I'm just going to send my carbs to this one local guy who rebuilds carbs for $50 cause I also have another carb with a stuck butterfly.
